๐ŸŒธ A Rare Alocasia with Stunning Pink Variegation

Alocasia Pseudosanderiana Pink Variegated is a beautiful collector's plant, admired for its dramatic arrow-shaped leaves, sculpted edges and striking pink variegation.

Its elongated green foliage can display gorgeous splashes and marbling in shades of blush pink, pale pink and green. The distinctive leaf shape and contrasting colours make it a standout addition to any rare plant collection.

As the plant matures, its foliage develops increasingly pronounced wavy margins and an elegant tropical appearance.

Please note: Pink variegation varies naturally between plants and leaves. Colouration may change as foliage matures, and future variegation cannot be guaranteed.

๐ŸŒฟ Alocasia Pseudosanderiana Pink Care Guide

๐ŸŒž Light

  • Prefers bright, indirect light.

  • Gentle morning sun is generally tolerated.

  • Avoid harsh afternoon sunlight.

  • Low light may slow growth.

โœจ Tip: Introduce your plant gradually to brighter conditions after arrival.

๐Ÿ’ง Watering

  • Keep soil lightly moist, never waterlogged.

  • Allow the surface to begin drying before watering.

  • Always use pots with drainage holes.

  • Reduce watering during cooler months.

โš ๏ธ Overwatering can cause root rot, especially in young plants.

๐ŸŒฑ Soil & Growing Medium

Use an airy, well-draining mix containing potting mix, perlite or pumice, orchid bark and charcoal.

Our Desert Jungle Plant Co Premium Indoor Plant Mix is suitable for established plants.

Young tissue culture plants may benefit from coco-perlite before transitioning to a chunkier mix.

๐Ÿชด Pot Size & Repotting

  • Use pots suited to the root system.

  • Avoid oversized pots that retain moisture.

  • Repot when roots fill the pot.

  • Handle delicate roots carefully.

๐ŸŒก Temperature & Humidity

  • Ideal temperature: 18โ€“28ยฐC.

  • Avoid prolonged temperatures below 15ยฐC.

  • Humidity of 60โ€“80% encourages healthy growth.

  • Protect from cold draughts.

  • Maintain good airflow.

๐ŸŒฟ Fertilising

  • Feed during active growth with balanced liquid fertiliser.

  • Use half strength for young plants.

  • Fertilise every 3โ€“4 weeks as needed.

  • Reduce feeding when growth slows.

๐Ÿƒ Dormancy

Alocasias may slow growth or lose older leaves during cooler months. Healthy corms can produce new growth when conditions improve. Reduce watering during dormancy.

๐ŸŒธ Understanding Pink Variegation

Pseudosanderiana Pink is prized for its unpredictable pink colouring, ranging from subtle blush tones to striking pink marbling.

  • New leaves may change colour as they mature.

  • Variegation differs between plants and leaves.

  • Heavily variegated sections may be more delicate.

  • Variegation may increase, decrease or revert.

  • Future variegation cannot be guaranteed.

โœจ Tip: Every new leaf is a surprise! Young plants may develop more noticeable colouring as they mature, although this is not guaranteed.

โœ‚๏ธ Maintenance & Pests

Wipe foliage gently, remove yellowing leaves and rotate occasionally for even growth.

Watch for spider mites, thrips and mealybugs. Inspect foliage regularly and treat infestations promptly.

โš ๏ธ Pet Safety

Alocasias contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and are toxic if chewed or ingested. Keep away from pets and children.
