🌿 Baby Monstera Care Guide
(Monstera Thai Constellation)
Monstera Thai Constellation are highly sought-after collector plants, loved for their creamy speckled variegation and iconic split leaves as they mature. Baby plants are slower growing than standard Monsteras, but with bright light and consistent care they will thrive beautifully.
🌱 Your Plant Purchase Information
You will receive 12 healthy baby Monstera Thai constellations, each with established roots and ready to grow on beautifully in your home.
This equates to just $14.16 per plant, including postage and GST.
Plants are currently potted in 66mm nursery pots and will be sent in their original pots to minimise stress during transit.
🌞 Light
Prefers bright, indirect light
Variegated Monsteras require brighter light than green varieties
Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch pale sections
Low light may reduce growth and variegation over time
✨ Tip: Bright filtered light is essential for maintaining strong Thai Constellation patterning.
💧 Watering
Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil begins to dry
Keep soil lightly moist, but never soggy
Ensure the pot has drainage holes
Reduce watering slightly during cooler months
⚠️ Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot in baby Monsteras.
🌱 Soil
Monsteras thrive in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix.
Ideal mix includes:
Premium potting soil
Perlite or pumice
Orchid bark or coco chips
Optional: a small amount of sphagnum moss for moisture balance
This provides airflow while still holding enough moisture for healthy roots.
🪴 Pot Size
Babies do best in a small pot (2–4 inches)
Avoid oversized pots, as excess soil stays wet too long
Repot only once roots begin filling the container
Monsteras enjoy being slightly snug while young.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity
Ideal temperature: 18–28°C
Protect from cold drafts below 15°C
Enjoy moderate to high humidity for best growth
Average indoor humidity is usually sufficient
✨ Tip: Higher humidity encourages larger leaves and faster maturity.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed during spring and summer growth
Use a balanced liquid fertilizer at ½ strength
Fertilize every 4–6 weeks
Pause feeding in autumn and winter
Thai Constellations are slower growers — gentle feeding is best.
✂️ Growth & Support
Monsteras are natural climbers
Provide a moss pole or support as the plant matures
Rotate occasionally for even growth
Prune only as needed
✨ Tip: Mature leaves will develop fenestrations (splits) with time, light, and support.
🐛 Pests to Watch For
Monsteras may occasionally attract:
Spider mites
Thrips
Mealybugs
Inspect leaves regularly and treat early if needed.
⚠️ Pet Safety
Monstera are toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children.
