🌿 Baby Scindapsus Care Guide
(Silver Satin, Exotica, Treubii Moonlight & More)
Scindapsus are stunning tropical trailing plants prized for their velvety leaves, silver markings, and easy-going nature. Often grouped with pothos, Scindapsus are slightly slower growing but highly rewarding indoor plants.
Baby Scindapsus establish best with bright light, airy soil, and careful watering.
🌞 Light
Prefers bright, indirect light
Tolerates medium light, though growth may slow
Variegated and silver varieties need brighter light to maintain markings
Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch leaves
✨ Tip: Bright filtered light encourages larger leaves and stronger silver patterning.
💧 Watering
Water when the top 3–5 cm of soil feels dry
Allow excess water to drain freely
Avoid keeping soil constantly wet
Reduce watering during cooler months
⚠️ Scindapsus are prone to root rot if overwatered — they prefer to dry slightly between waterings.
🌱 Soil
Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix such as:
Premium potting soil
Perlite or pumice
Orchid bark or coco chips for airflow
Optional: a small amount of sphagnum moss for moisture balance
An airy mix supports healthy roots and steady growth.
🪴 Pot Size
Babies do best in a small pot with drainage holes
Avoid overpotting, as excess soil holds moisture too long
Repot only once roots begin filling the pot
Scindapsus enjoy being slightly snug.
🌡 Temperature & Humidity
Ideal temperature: 18–28°C
Protect from cold drafts and temps below 15°C
Enjoy moderate to high humidity, especially for larger leaves
Average indoor humidity is usually sufficient
✨ Tip: Higher humidity encourages faster growth and more lush foliage.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed during spring and summer growth
Use a balanced liquid fertilizer at ½ strength
Fertilize every 4–6 weeks
Pause feeding in autumn and winter
Gentle feeding supports steady growth without stressing baby plants.
✂️ Growth & Maintenance
Scindapsus can trail or climb with support
Moss poles encourage larger, more mature leaves
Pruning promotes bushier growth
Easy to propagate from stem cuttings
✨ Tip: Slow growth is normal — Scindapsus are steady, not rapid growers.
🐛 Pests to Watch For
Scindapsus may occasionally attract:
Spider mites
Thrips
Mealybugs
Inspect leaves regularly, especially underneath, and treat early if needed.
⚠️ Pet Safety
Scindapsus are toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children.

Bare Root Shipping (Most Economical Option):
Soil is mostly removed to reduce weight, and roots are wrapped in either sphagnum moss or damp shredded paper.

Plants may be sent in their original nursery pots with soil intact. Shipping is calculated by weight, making this option more expensive, however plants will arrive less stressed with no need to pot them up on arrival.
